The Parish Council OBJECTS to the above application and requests that planning permission is REFUSED. The reasons for the objection are as follows:

The Council strongly objects to the removal of the on street car parking. This

parking currently facilitates customer parking for the three businesses located by the island on Station Road/Holly Lane which is a heavily utilised parking area.

Removal of these spaces will create problems for the people wishing to use these shops which are generally short stay parking. Loss of this facility will only encourage illegal parking.

Consideration should also be given to the potential loss to the businesses which the lack of parking may create.

The loss of the car parking facilities within the scheme is going to add to the existing critical problems with parking within the village.

With regard to the on street car parking the Council would recommend that this facility be retained but managed as a short term stay, as this does not fall within the area managed by Centro.

The position of the Ring & Ride facility is in the opinion of the Council in the wrong position and will be dangerous for people disembarking. There is also concern as to how the Ring & Ride bus will exit the designated space due to the acuteness of the angle. This will create a blind stop for the driver of the bus and particularly when other buses are parked at the bus stops.

There are existing problems regarding the speed of the buses using this facility especially when entering the area from the island on Station Road/Holly Lane. When cars are parked in the current on street spaces, buses have to slow down. The loss of on street car parking on this corner will exacerbate the problem of speeding buses.
